This rules-lite RPG is brilliant in its simplicity. Contained in these 60 pages is everything you need to play, gamemaster, and design your own monsters and adventures. Monster design and their tiny stat block are ingenious. Plus, I love Steve Robertson's art. It is a perfect match to his text, only detailed enough to be inspiring in its simplicity.

I really like Sharp Swords & Sinister Spells rpg. It is easy and fun to play. It runs on just a few simple and fast mechanics and requires very little preparation. I also enjoy the art. Both mechanics and art are a great fit to the Swords & Sorcery genre. This a perfect little rpg. It is what I run at my gaming table now.

This the way to do a magazine for BBF - a new spell, race, monster and module as well as 100 descriptors, an unused map and more. Keep it up guys!

I am not any kind of expert on gaming. I love to game and rules lite rpgs that enhance player freedom instead of bogging things down with lots of fiddly, crunchy rules. That's just me. BareBones Fantasy is exactly that kind of game for me.

I like the way that BareBones gives you have the freedom to create much more rounded characters as well as the standard types (fighter, cleric, mage & thief). But that does not mean you can create a maxed out, superhero character. On the contrary, one would be wise to do some planning before you take your character into combat - not because the rules are heavy or anything (they are not) - but because combat can be fast and deadly.

I think BareBones is great for historical, cinematic and episodic campaigns. It would work very well for Star Trek, X-Files, Stargate, Babylon 5, 13th Warrior, The Kingdom of Heaven, etc.

I love Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG for gritty, old-school gaming and X-plorers for old school scifi, but BareBones Fantasy is now my go-to-game for cinematic and episodic gaming.

If you are looking for a rules lite rpgs that enhance player freedom instead of bogging things down with lots of fiddly, crunchy rules, then I highly recommend BareBones Fantasy.

This is a fantastic setting for OSR gaming. It just oozes campaign ideas and local flavor.

It is completely open game material that pther can build upon. Plus, the pdf version is free. This is easily one of my favorite, new products.

I purchased this pdf when it first came out, but even though I was quite excited about the game, I had a very hard time trying to wrap my head around the mechanics.

However, the Eldritch pdf was recently updated so I downloaded and printed it off again. While I haven’t checked to see how much of the original text was changed, what I do know is that the updated version IS VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND. This time, as soon as I had finished reading through the chapter on Character Creation (which is only eight pages long), I had a very solid grasp of the system. And that’s before I had even read the next chapter that describes the Action System!

Personally, I really like how the how game uses the same basic resolution method (other reviewers have detailed it well) for most everything – skill use, combat, spell-casting, etc. It is intuitive, quick and easy-to-pick-up.

Yeah, the text is kind of small and the interior art is dark and too cgi-looking for my tastes, but the Game Design notes found in the margins of nearly every page as well as the cover art are great!

Truly, Eldritch is now exactly what it claims to be – a perfect rpg for cinematic fantasy. I’m changing systems!

OSRIC does a great job of re-imagining AD&D 1st Edition using OGL. The presentation is clear and easy to follow. It is a wonderful resource for players and publishers. I'm looking forward to all their future products as well.

And you sure can't beat the price, well unless somebody pays you to download it!

Good: -This is an excellent introductory adventure for beginning avatars. -It provides a detailed local setting that is Lejendary Earth Specific, yet easily adaptable to any other generic fantasy world. -When a specific rule or "beast" is meantioned, both the particular book and page number are given for handy reference. -The five location/sections of the adventure are given in a short summary as well as in their own detailed sections. -Each encounter includes very informative background material as well as a number of possible reactions/attack options for the non-avatar characters. -And the adventure offers a number of neat "atmospherics" like local villiagers, area history, local sayings, maps and songs.

Bad: No real criticisms. This adventure is well done and quite playable. It would be neat if this was just one of like a trio of adventures.

I have to admit that I have been avoiding this game system for quite a while now. 3.5 D&D allows SO many crazy combinations of abilites that I think players lose all sense of "archtype." I thought that is what this game system would do as well. However, Lejendary Adventures allows one to create realistic characters that can follow an archtype (Order)or not. It is a "leveless" system but with the growth and development of characters based upon their experience and good roleplaying(merits). With the additon of the Lejendary Beastary and the Gygaxian Fantasy World suppliments, this is one game system I can see myself growing old with.
