Trinity Field Report: Oceania

A World Awaits

Mankind has often wondered what secrets lie hidden in the depths of Earth's oceans. But throughout our history, this most tantalizing of mysteries remained unknown. Finally, in the 22nd century, the technology exists to explore, even colonize, the planet's vast underwater realms.

Under the Sea

The fifth Trinity Field Report: Oceania takes a look at Earth's ocean-based societies. From the vast floating cities to the isolated deep colonies, this full-color setting dossier from the Æon Trinity itself reveals the bizarre and wondrous world that exists beneath the waves.

Hidden Lore

Release: Originally posted on the White Wolf site in June 1999, Trinity Field Report: Oceania was the fifth in the TFR series, and the first to not be published traditionally. It was available for free online in HTML format, and as a PDF with some Trinity design elements in order to mimic the look of the other TFR supplements.

Like TFR: Media, the editor is listed as "Allison 'Smithee' Sturms," making this the fourth consecutive book to either use or reference a pseudonym for the editor.

Cover: The download originally had no cover. The image visible above was assembled by Ian A. A. Watson using one of Steven Otte's interior illustrations and cover elements common to the other TFR books.

New Edition

Cover of Terra FirmaOnyx Path's latest edition of Trinity, Trinity Continuum: Æon, returns to Oceania (and Pearl City in specific) in Terra Firma.

Oceania was one of two Trinity Field Reports that were only published as PDF-files back in 1999. As such it shares the merits and flaws of the other TFRs. It is a brief introduction from an "in game" point of view to a topic in the game. Its [...]

First of all, it's hard to argue with free. This PDF could consist of a front cover, a back cover, and five lines of text, and would still be considered by many to be "good value for money." Now that that's been said, we'll move on to the rev [...]

A nice meaty offering for the price (Free!) and useful for almost any near future or far future SciFi setting with underwater habitats. This is clearly based in the original Trinity setting, but with the exception of specific dates could easily be adap [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
